Sonnet №94 — Breonna

An innocent woman; murdered by men.

Cops broke into her home; she was asleep.

They had the wrong house, no matter, again,

we know to police, All Black Lives are cheap.

Just take a moment, you’re lying in bed,

front door crashing down, boots hammer the hall.

Flash-bangs explode, guns point at your head;

triggers get pulled, your brains splatter the wall.

6 months go by, yet not one cop’s been charged.

For Breonna’s death, there’s no price to pay.

The jack-booted thugs, they’re all still at large.

We hunt for Black skins, that’s what those cops say.

Cops killed Breonna and you’re not incensed?

Then you’re not human, there is no defense.
